HORROR AT SENYA BERAKU...As Prophet exhumes witchcraft object from a house

On Wednesday, September 23, this year, dozens of people trooped to the quiet fishing town of Senya Beraku, in the Central Region of Ghana, when news went round the Gomoa area that a prophet of God has been invited to a family house in the town to help solve the unexplained mystery of sudden deaths and unexplained calamities that had befallen the household in the last few years.
The head (abusuapanyin) of family of the Asona clan of Senya Beraku, Opanin Christopher Kweku Eduayaw, 53, had had sleepless nights all these years when the calamities began…calamities that had left a yawning vacuum in the family.
Many of the few surviving men in the household have become drunkards due, in part, to the sudden deaths of their beloved relations and the miseries of social incapacitation and abject poverty they were going through.
Opanin Eduayaw, in tears, narrating some of the misfortunes that had befallen the family in the last few years, said a prominent member of the family who was a building contractor was not happy with the misfortunes which had gripped the family and expressed these sentiments openly.
“He decided to re-build the dilapidated family house on his return from the Brong Ahafo region where he was working on a project. As fate would have it, he never returned and his body has not even been traced as I am talking to you now”, the family head told the Spectator.
According Opanin Eduayaw, a vehicle knocked down another prominent member of the family at Mallam Junction earlier this year, another was found drowned under mysterious circumstances and yet another, a graduate of the University of Ghana and the only son of the Abusuapanyin, died under similar circumstances.
As if that is not enough, most of the few surviving male members of the family have become drunkards or in a state of destitution and incapable of doing any meaningful work to earn a living.
The head of family therefore took it upon himself to get to the root of the matter and see how best the problem of incessant family misfortunes could be solved.
In his desperation, Opanin Eduayaw, together with some few members of the household including his nephew, Alex Gyan, 35, consulted some oracles and magicians around the country but the deities could not tell exactly what was causing the calamities.
Meanwhile the deaths and calamities continued.
According to Opanin Eduayaw, after spending so much time and money consulting oracles and deities without any success, he lost hope and gave in to fate.
It was not until a fortnight ago that he heard of a man of God, Prophet Michael Osei, at Kasoa (Brigade) who was said to be performing wonders and relieving people of their spiritual problems that he decided to try again.
“I was not sure that he could help me with the problem when I heard him preaching on one of the radio stations. I dismissed the whole idea of seeing him but as the days went by, something pressed me to go and see him. It took me some days before I went to Kasoa to see him” he said.
“I was surprised when, even before he could offer me a chair, the man of God told me
that there was “fire” in my family and that it would destroy everybody in the family before long”, Opanin Eduayaw told the Spectator.
According to him, Prophet Osei told him that a magical object of a fetish was buried under their family house by one of their grandmothers who had died a long time ago and that because her successors could not take care of the fetish, the witches in the house had made magical object the abode of their witchery from where all the calamities were being visited on the household.
He said prophet Osei promised to exhume the object and thereby end the miseries in the family and a date was fixed for the operation.
The man of God did honour the promise and with his team of prayer warriors, drove to the quiet fishing town early on the morning in question.
Even before he could commence the business of locating and exhuming the spiritual object, an elderly woman in the house fiercely confronted him and questioned the man of God as to why he should dare come to the house to exhume the object since it is their family property.
She rained insults on the Holy man and his assistants provocatively calling the prophet a fake ‘who has no power to even attempt to remove the object from its location’. “You cannot remove it and you will be disgraced”, she shouted.
Her efforts to thwart the prophet from his assignment were met with boos and cat calls from the large crowd which had gathered to witness the occasion, especially when she was joined by a younger woman from the family to hurl more insults on the prophet.
Calmly and despite all the protests from the old woman, Prophet Osei set to work invoking the protection of God to enable him to perform the task ahead.
He then located the area under which the object was sitting and his assistants, wielding pick axes and shovels commenced the business of digging.
The digging was not easy as, according to the prophet, the spiritual object kept moving from one place to another to avoid being dug out. Whatever it was kept dodging the diggers but the eagle eyes of the prophet trailed it until after about an hour, it finally got exhausted and went back to its original place…in front of the main entrance to the room where a shrine of the deceased fetish priest was.
Quickly and after sprinkling holy oil over the area under which the spiritual object was, the prophet himself took a pick axe and dug into the ground for about four metres inaudibly murmuring prayers and using the cross to wade off what he described as ‘juju’, in the form of ‘Tukwei’ being thrown at him by some people from among the crowd ‘who wanted to test my real spiritual strength’.
At a stage, he warned those who ‘were throwing juju at him’ to stop since he was well protected against those things by God.
Finally, with his two hands, he tucked deep into the wet muddy soil and suddenly pulled out the spiritual object in the form of a miniature human carving covered with beads and cowries.
The crowd surged forward amidst shouts of praise to have a closer look at the object which the man of God had by then raised high for them to have a better look while family members wept for joy.
It was a total jubilation for the household.
The man of God assured the family that the removal of the object which was causing all the calamities from the household was only the beginning of things to come.
He said he would go back and remove the main “witches’ pot” which is also buried under the house and managed by seven witches and wizards in the family.
Addressing them later, Prophet Osei said the devil is at work, through agents like witches and wizards, to destroy mankind.
“It is therefore very necessary for everybody to pray unceasingly to seek the face of God and let Him intervene to save us from the designs of the devil”.
Meanwhile the people of Senya have pleaded with the man of God to open a branch of the church, Ebenezer Healing Church in the town.
